92 Pre-Runner Ranger

My guess is the frame cracked on compression, not droop. Way more force pushing the axle up than down.

I would agree it broke on compression but it definitely bent downwards from fully extending. I have a good idea of when and where it happened too. The dunes were real steep and I went off about a 15 foot near vertical drop in 3rd because I forgot it was there. It bottomed hard front and rear.

It may have pulled down after it cracked, but im sure it was caused from bottoming out.

I just got a stupidly good deal on 1.5" DOM and bought 25 sticks. It's not big enough for a cage but I've been brainstorming a light bar idea I've had so that will be in the works soon. It would also be sufficient for a temporary bedcage to fix my shock problem.

Only 6ft (should have clarified) so not full sticks but they were dirt cheap.

I thought you meant 25 20' lengths... I was guna say that will run about $5000+ dollars around here if it was .250 wall.

Whats the thinkness .120?

When you say the tubing is not big enough for the cage you mean length i suppose....

But dalm thats cool, Id love to find a deal on some tubing... Im not too happy when i leave the metal yard most of the time...

Lengths as well as diameter. 1.5" isn't enough for a cage. I can do a light rack and tire carrier easily with it though.

Your truck is desighned stock to be able to take a decent role, with a good cage design you would be fine using 1.5" OD .120 Wall DOM. I think using anything thinker unless its a full size race truck with a ton of weight H.P. and speed envolved is unnessasary and will just weigh your truck down... if you flip it, its guna be totaled anyway...

You could get away with 1.5 if you didn't want to race but you cant use 6ft sections, you need 20s to make your hoop 1 peice and the A pillars 1 peice

True it will be totaled in the event of a roll but everything I've read is saying over 3,000 lbs. should be 1.75"x.120" with a closed cab. Info from the tech library here and several other sources. There's no such thing as too safe.

I don't know how far the truck will go so I'll just overbuild it to be safe. I would hate to cut it out and redo it. Definitely need full sticks for a cage but these were a great deal and I can find a bunch of uses for them.

4000 and over needs 1.75, at least thats what score thinks

The stack of grabbers in my garage was from the tire shop in front of my parents shop. We beat them up on the price and got the tires for damn near cost. Well they called me yesterday, they had accidentally ordered two sets so I got eight grabbers brand new for $1400 with mounting and balancing. Really can't beat that.

Also I contacted King about some rust on the shaft of one of my bump stops and the shipped me a new shaft. UPS says it will be waiting for me at my door after work.

The other day I noticed the truck sitting funny and couldn't see anything obvious so it just sat there for a couple days.

While pulling the bumps I found the cause. I had broken the coil spring retainer on my front left shock. Oh well, I called the guys at Lenger Racing and they're gonna get me the parts. Should be cheap.

While on the phone he was determined to talk me out of a V8. He gave me a lot to consider. I can save a ton of money by building up the 2.3 I want the truck to be fast be he claims it doesn't need it and I could have a ton of fun and get 200 HP out of the 2.3 Double the HP would definitely be substantial. I have so much to look into, who knows what's actually gonna happen when the time comes hahah I change my mind too much.
