92 Pre-Runner Ranger

Send me them LS parts then!

Oh no the engine swap is still on :D I'm just going to start with a stock ranger. As it currently sits, the truck doesn't have enough suspension travel to handle the speeds it will see safely. The suspension would have to be completely rebuilt and I don't see any sense in tearing apart a truck that works, you know?

Well this build is finally taking a turn, I'm picking up this rust free ext cab Friday for next to nothing.

Soon to be powered by this engine.

Along with this little guy.

I'll be running a standalone MegaSquirt ECU and all the tuning software is already on my laptop along with a baseline tune that with this same setup running 22lbs, made 580 WHP thru an auto trans. I'll be running a T56 6 speed and 15lbs. I'm shooting for 500 WHP. The guy that sent me the tune is estimating way higher. Should be fun. Oh and I also have a stack of spare tires :3gears:

I can't wait to see this... (and how the hell you're fitting a turbo LS in the engine bay of an RBV)

This going to be a street truck or off-road truck?

I'm gonna get it running first so I guess it'll start as a street truck. As funds start to flow, it'll get LT suspension and cage work. I need to make a new thread as the build gets started. Just gotta blow up this damn 3.0 or M5OD first. So far, it's survived tons of burnouts and countless rev limiter clutch drops with a welded diff :icon_rofl:
As of now, the 92 is for sale.

be sure to push that engine back a bit in the cab. notch the firewall, so you can room up front.
may as well cage the truck now and cut from the firewall forward off/ make your own rad support.

I sold the red truck a couple months ago. The 5.3 is in the green ext cab now. Engine and trans are in. Just working on wiring and fuel system and it'll be running. I set the engine right up against the firewall without cutting it too much. I actually had enough room to fit the engine and radiator under the hood without cutting the core support. This summer it's just going to be a street terror so I can have some fun while saving up money, next winter it'll get equal length beams, 4 linked and a full cage.
