Speed doesn't matter if you can't keep it on the track.
Hey guys. So I have installed this alarm and it works. Just the basics, no door switch trigger, doorlocks or horn. Has shock/movement sensor. So far all I have connected are the, Orange, White, Black, Brown and Red wires. I have also connected the 2 black starter interrupt wires to the Pink starter wire (goes between the clutch pedal and starter relay I guess) as per diagram. (Links below).

Here's the problem, starter interrupt doesn't work when armed.. i can start the vehicle etc. with the alarm blaring.
I have tried to connect the Yellow Ignition Input wire (from Alarm harness) to the "Ignition" 1 & 2 respectively to see if this works.. this results in no cranking whether armed or disarmed. I have tried testing the Yellow on the Red/LG and the BR/Pink, both of these stay HOT in Start mode. No luck.
One last thing, there is an Orange (alarm harness) wire that says, "(-)500ma Ground-when-armed-output" I have this connected to a ground. I have no idea if this is correct.
I have a Multimeter and a fair sense of what I'm doing, but obviously there is something wrong here.
I have the link to the Bulldogsecurity page with the legend of all the wires for my Ranger.
Here are the other links to this alarm system that show what I'm talking about... any help is appreciated!

PS. I have tried searching this forum already and read tons of good help, but I can't find anything specific to my issue. Good chance I missed something though, I always do lol

I didn't look at the diagrams, but just from reading your description, the ""(-)500ma Ground-when-armed-output" " is an output and should not be grounded. What you would do with that is use a relay. Put 12v on one side of the relay coil, and run the other side of the relay coil to that output. When the alarm was armed, it would ground that output, which would activate the relay for whatever reason.

If you have any other outputs like that, they would work the same way. That is how Ford fires their fuel injectors. When you turn the key on all the injectors have 12v on one side at all times. The computer output grounds the other side of each injector to make them fire.

Thanks, I'll try that out this evening.

This is correct. You should not have this orange wire grounded, and it would normally be used to configure an external relay to interrupt the starter wire.

BUT . . .

According to the Model 3100 manual that you posted, if that's the module you have, it has an internal starter interrupt relay. Just cut your starter wire and splice the two cut ends to the two black wires on harness H3. Use the diagram on page 4 of the manual and remove the orange wire from ground and tape the end- you won't be using it.

I have also connected the 2 black starter interrupt wires to the Pink starter wire (goes between the clutch pedal and starter relay I guess) as per diagram. (Links below).

In order to interrupt the starter wire, it has to be cut. The relay inside the alarm module will open the starter circuit when the alarm is armed, and if the starter circuit is energized. Since the manual states that the two H3 black wires are interchangeable, you'll likely need to connect the alarm's ignition wire to the truck's ignition circuit- energized in the run and start key positions.

Make sure that you make good, sound wiring connections, and good luck!

Yes, I did cut an splice the Pink Starter wire and connected each end, into each of the Black wires to the module.. Making note of the Orange wire and will see what happens with it not connected ( I would have to go out a find a relay anyway, so this is good if I don't need it).

When you say, "..you'll likely need to connect the alarm's ignition wire to the truck's ignition circuit- energized in the run and start key positions." I assume you are referring to the Yellow Wire (H1/9 "(+) Ignition Input, Zone 5")?
Think I got it. I'll let y'all know what happens.

Thanks!

It worked! Disregarding the Orange Alarm wire and connecting the Yellow Alarm wire to the, Ranger Br/Pk "hot Run, hot Start" wire did the trick.
Thanks to both of you for the quick help responses. This info is not easy to come by just by searching the Web or YouTube.. Y'all just expanded my knowledge a great deal.
Have a great weekend! 🤠

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that you got it working.
