I'm hopeing someone can help me with an ABS dash light on my 89 ranger 4x4. I start the truck and no light as soon as I press the brakes my ABS /brake lights come on and stay on. If I put in neutral and shut it off and restart the truck the lights stay off. I have replaced the rear end sensor and now the light comes on after about a mile of driving. Is there any other sensor or device that can go bad that I can check or replace ? Thanks for any help or ideas where to start.

You need to ground the ABS test connector wire and that will make the ABS light flash a code that will get you going in the right direction. Look for a single wire connector. I think it was under the glove box or near the parking brake control on the 89 Ranger.

Alternatively you can unplug the RABS valve, relocate the bulb to the trash can, and forget your truck was ever equipped with the abortion of a "safey" device that was the 80s/early 90s RABS system.
