Hey, so I recently got back from a week long vacation and when I got back my 88 ford Ranger now won’t start. It started just fine when I left.
A few weeks before I left it had trouble starting and I replaced the spark plugs and cables, distributor cap, and ignition coil, before figuring out it was the timing belt.
Once fixed ran great again but now I can’t figure out what the problem is.
I checked the battery and fuses, not sure where to go from there.
any ideas???

Does it crank?

Yes it cranks. So I don’t think it’s the starter or battery.

I’ve noticed that I don’t hear the fuel pump engage like I used to when I turn the key to the on postion. And after closer inspection I don’t hear the fuel pump relay or starter relay click either when turned into the on position

Yeah... when you key on... EEC fuel pump relay should click.

Try disconnecting and inspecting the connections.

Tried that and there was a little bit of rust and corrosion but was cleaned off

Also it was only in one relay I imagine the other one would still click if that was the problem

Depends... the EEC relay powers the fuel pump relay.

Okay I’ll replace it and see if that works. Thank you for the help I will hop back in the chat and let you know either way

I wasn't suggesting to start putting parts on.

Get your test light and your DMM and start testing.
