^ Check that out. That's a good outline of how to fix the rust. You may not need to remove the motor and everything but the pics of a clean firewall speak a 1000 words. It'll help you imagine what you need to do.

Hopefully you dont have that much rust. I, on the otherhand, will be doing exactly what this guy has done because my rust is just as bad.....man, I hate rust...

i was looking at that thread just the other day, the rest of the truck looked quite clean, makes me wonder about my own truck and what might be hiding...

Yea its kinda sad, I've noticed that not many people give their vehicles love down here. Its great to know there are people from the valley though

Well i got the chance to save this little truck. All she needed was a clutch master and slave cylinder. All that work is worth it though. She came with a rear straight axle a lot of rust and A/C:headbang:

Radiator

Alright so the truck wasnt overheating but she got hot fast. I got the radiator from a 93 4.0 explorer. Yes its an automatic radiator. It fit perfectly but had to trim the shroud. I mean you cant beat 50 bucks from the junkyard

Inspection sticker?

Alright so we had to remove the cat converter and remove the inside. It was clogged. I havent gotten the inspection sticker. It has a glass pack on but its amazingly quiet. Will this be a problem?

Do they do emissions testing or just visual inspection? If it's just visual inspection as long as the cat is still in it's original place it would probably slip by but if they knew you gutted it I'm sure they would fail you. If they hook up a sniffer to your tailpipe it's a sure fail.

X2 what superds said. I don't have emissions testing where I'm at and I usually have a couple of safety inspection issues when I get mine done (nothing unsafe, just technical issues like fenders and mudflaps) so I usually just "tip" the guy for a job well done.

I havent seen a place down south texas that does a sniff test all the inspections ive gotten just basically all visual past them all I almost failed last year because I had duck tape on my air intake tube but they guy was cool enough just to let it slide :headbang:

If i fail the inspection, do i have to buy the part and go back or do i jut go to another place?

Here in Utah if you pay for an inspection and fail you don't have to pay again to retest so sometimes it can just be cheaper to fix the issue rather than pay for another inspection at a different place.
