88 ranger from junk to beast

Look at his location. He is in Texas. I think it's a law there that you have to lift any truck or SUV above factory ride height.

It's not just a law, its life. :headbang:

Glad you're removing those awful coils...

Other than that it looks good. Post up the rust you're talking about and we'll try to give some advice.

Hate to say it, but those "knuckles" are in the coil spring not the shock. And they are dangerous. They've been known to launch out of the spring at high rates of speed under the right conditions. Plenty of advice on lifting these older trucks on a budget and it being fairly safe, look in the suspension forum and the tech articles.

They also put pressure points on springs and can cause them to break.

Trash'em. :icon_thumby:

Alright this is in my firewall i tried to fill some of it up ? But the water is still going in. My major problem is that its rusted were the windshield water goes too and there is no way to get there. Any advice on what to put? I tried the expands foam stuff but it still goes through

Looks to me like you need to remove as much as possible that's in the way, grind back until you find solid metal all the way around the rust spot cut and weld new patch panels.. You can try some urethane type sealer that stuff dries pretty hard and it's thick where you might be able to build it up to fill the voids.. Only issue is it's only going to adhere if your able to clean the surrounding area..

The good news is...that is fixable...

The bad news is...that's where mine went out also...and you may want to check a few more places with a pointy screwdriver...particularly the drain tray under the windshield, the kick panel under the parking brake, and the welds where the front supports attach to the main body of the cab.

You may be fortunate and have only to replace the bottom floor pans up to where they join higher up...and I'd hope so for your sake...

It's all actually fixable, but it requires quite a bit of tear down if it is not just the floor pans...

Tires!!!!

Alright so the tires got in today i put them on rigt away. Not the greatest picture but it looks sexy.

^ Check that out. That's a good outline of how to fix the rust. You may not need to remove the motor and everything but the pics of a clean firewall speak a 1000 words. It'll help you imagine what you need to do.

Hopefully you dont have that much rust. I, on the otherhand, will be doing exactly what this guy has done because my rust is just as bad.....man, I hate rust...

Excellent details of that...it's been about 10 years since I did the sandblasting on mine and took everything out, but that brought back memories...some of them not so good...lol
