I have a 87 Ranger STX, 4x4, with a 2.9 engine.
I took the fuel accumulator bowl off and was going to replace the fuel filter with one that I got at a auto parts store.
There wasn't a fuel filter in my Ranger's fuel accumulator. And the fuel filter that I bought for it, had too big of a hole in the center of the fuel filter, for a tight fit, where it looks like it's suppose to slide onto the tube coming down from the top, in the center of the fuel accumulator.
Apparently, it looks like they sold me the wrong fuel filter for my Ranger's fuel accumulator. as it looks like it's made to have one??
When the bowl was off the fuel accumulator, until I get the right filter for it, when I get a chance. I thought I'd check to see if my rear fuel pump is working, when the bowl is off the fuel accumulator.
I turned on the ignition key and was expecting the rear tank to pump fuel to the accumulator, where I thought I'd see it leak out of the fuel accumulator, being the bowl was still off of it. But, no fuel was noticed that I was expecting to see.
Or, does the fuel accumulator fill up the bowl, only, on the fuel returning to the tank from the engine's fuel rail, when the engine is running??
Is it easier to replace the rear fuel pump, by taking off the fuel tank, or the pickup's box??
Is there a relay for the primary, and rear fuel pump?? Or, do they both run off of the same relay?? Does each fuel pump have a sperate fusible link??
