Ranger wouldn’t start. Checked it out, no fuel pump running. Relay ok, pull fuel pump, replaced pump only then notice red wire on pump leading up to connector on top was broken off. I think the pin it hook to is the second pin from front of truck. There are 4 pins in the set up the plug plugs into to but the last pin towards back of truck had no wire hook to it. Is the second pin from front of truck the red wire connection? I don’t want to connect a wire wrong over a gas tank. I just want to be sure. From what it looks like, this is where it goes. I think the pin is bad and it broke loose at the bottom side. It’s a brass pin and I’ll have to sorder it back on. The red wire has a connector with a hole in center. I think moisture and corrosion ate the connection up. Advise please. It a dependable farm truck and perfect for the job. Thanks. See pics attached

I don’t know why so many pictures attached. I tried to send 3 only and it kept telling me there was an error and to refresh and try again. When I did it did the error again. The third try the pictures went through. When I went to review my post I had multiple pics of the same thing. Go figure. Sorry.

I tried to delete a pic but it didn't work. And I'm too scared to do more... One time I accidently disappeared a whole thread!

Did a quick google search and it looks like the power lead is next to the black/ground lead.

Thanks so much. That’s what I had come to the conclusion of but wanted to be absolutely sure. Now I am and again thanks for your response and diagrams. Now to figure out how to reattach the connection. Do you think I could solder it with a small pencil type soldering gun? 5 years ago I bought one and it came as an assembly with pump, strainer, and all the other stuff to just pull the old and drop the new in place and screw the ring down. This time it’s just the pump itself and you use your old frame work. And guess what, I toss the old pump about 6 months ago while cleaning up the shop. That’s why I don’t like to throw anything away if it has some parts that can be reused. But after a while you have to be able to walk through the building. Lol
Again I say thanks.

To be honest, I wouldn't trust a solder connection lasting that long.
The heat could melt the insulation, compromising the connection.

A piece of solid copper wire, that replaces the original rivet might work.
How good are you with a ball-peen hammer?
Remember the old style rivets?

A universal bulkhead connector would also work.
Just make sure it's fuel compatible.

Whatever solution you come up with, make you complete your install with a continuity meter. Don't want that positive lead touching any metal (ground).

I'm all for an electrical kludge, but in this case I'd be shopping for a sending unit.
