Ladies and gents, you have a great website. I am more of a Mustang and Comet enthusiast and am members of those sites, and will share your site with them. I am sad to say that my dad recently passed away and was a Ranger lover! He had three at the time of his passing. I have one, in particular, that I need your expertise on. It is an 87 custom dually. It was put together brand new from some customizing company here in South Carolina, so it is original. I don't know who the company is. It has the 2.3L 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual. It has AC, PS, cruise and tilt. It does not have power windows. It has a rear sliding window. It is a standard cab with a long bed and bedliner. I do have pictures if I can find a way to attach them. It has a chrome front brush guard and a chrome guard behind the rear window. It has a special rear end with a 4.11 posi that gives it a bit of a kick at the redlight. He was 79, never ran it hard and has not driven it in the last 2 years because of health issues. The paint and fenders are great. You can eat off the bottom of the truck it is so clean. I need to know how much it is worth. I will then post it on your website first to see if a Ranger lover will buy it, before I put it on Ebay. Thanks much!

The parts where available by a few companies years ago. They were on Ebay as well before. You can by the adaptors for the rear axle and the fender bulges. As far as I know the parts are still around new and used. Anybody with mechanical knowledge can put one together. It does not take a specialty shop to put one together. My brother-in-law bought the parts before and put one together about 6 years ago for his son's 87 STX. Use the search function on this site. It has been brought up a few times already.

I love that truck, I think it is funny how it looks literally just like that F350

Hey, Straycat. I am a retired vet, too. I am not sure why you had to launch into a sermon telling me one can buy the dually parts out there somewhere... as if I was not telling the truth? I was just seeking a little help for a truck that I KNOW is original... and was precious to my dad who just passed. Come on, be human... and treat others the same.

Yea i like that little bugger too, I stole a pic right when he posted up back when.

Rangers were available like that back in the day, they had an 8.8" axle instead of the 7.5, it's the same chassis used on the old Ranger motor homes.

It's just his way. Most of us have learned how to take Stray, but he is one of those individuals who is something of an acquired taste.

Honestly, even with the dually option, original or otherwise, you will probably be hard pressed to get more than $1000 out of the truck. The sad truth of the 1st generation Rangers is that these days, even in showroom condition, they are worth far more in pieces than they are as a whole vehicle.

I could sell off my engine, trans, and t-case each for at least the book value of my truck.

I like Strays way really enjoyed the local wildlife thread in particular.I'm really glad this isn't like pirate though. It's cool to be a jerk around there.

I may be interested in it if its like the other dually 1st gens I have seen

would like some pics and more info please

Pics and a location might help with a sale. So would posting in the classifieds.

You need to read what I said in my post. I was telling you that it does not take any type of special shop to put one together. You can do this at home if you know anything about mechanical parts. I did say anything negitive about your truck. The parts have been around for a very long time. JCWhitney sold them some years back. I see the parts on Ebay sometimes.

you need to know more about the past options than just jumping to the "it's just a JC Whitney kit" conclusion and sticking with it... that kit is just stud extenders to throw on a second set of wheels. If that truck was bought as a chassis cab with the 8.8 dually option (rare) it has real dually wheels.

You can buy the rear and the fender buldges from JC Whitney. 8.8 is not the only rear end the dually setup worked on. Other places sold the dually setup with the fender bulges as well. They were around for a very long time. I never said his Ranger was a JC Whitney kit...I said JC Whitney sold the parts as well. READ WHAT I SAID IN MY FIRST POST.
