87 Ranger Dually

You can buy the rear and the fender buldges from JC Whitney. 8.8 is not the only rear end the dually setup worked on. Other places sold the dually setup with the fender bulges as well. They were around for a very long time. I never said his Ranger was a JC Whitney kit...I said JC Whitney sold the parts as well. READ WHAT I SAID IN MY FIRST POST.

Stray , what scott is saying , and i have seen two of these truck myself , though neither was for sale , is that the Rev's fathers truck may have been ordered as a Cab & Chassis with the 8.8 Factory Dually rear axle , i have seen 2 of these trucks , one was a dump truck and the other was a camper , it is more than just a slap on kit , it was an actual factory dually axle , so before saying that every dually truck out there is done with a kit by JC or from eBay , you should understand that factory dually Rangers exist , but are the rarest of the rare

Rev , if you want to post pictures you have to upload them to a site like photobucket and then paste the image link in you post

I read what you said stray, but when you read what I said things make sense like WNY964x4 was saying, the stock chassis cab's came with front hubs set up for real dually wheels, and the rear axle was a real dually axle. You get no argument on the dually bed sides, but things were probably different in the mid 80's

Thanks for the great help!

Gents, thanks for all the help you have offered. The conversation is spirited and the info is good. I have tried to post pictures on the Classified section of this website, but my pictures were too large, digitally speaking. I will try to do the Photobucket thing and see what happens. I think you will like what you see... and come to the conclusion it is worth more than $1,000. I look forward to hearing your guestimates....

You guys are not understanding my reply. I said you could buy the parts at several places. Ford never made one...ever!! It was made by another builder who did custom builds. One thing that is for certain is...the trucks that were made by any legitimate place will have a plaque (nameplate) and the number of the build somewhere in the cab area. I saw a beautiful dually camper back in the late 80's at a car and truck expo in Tampa. It was really nice. It had a plaque near the glove box area that had the name of company who put it together. They were selling the kits there as well that year. I just can’t remember the name of the company….like Motor Coach Works or something.

I don't know man, but that looks pretty clean. You'll probably have to find the right buyer. I just think of F350's for duallys. I think that a truck that old (mine's an '88) if you got $1k for it, you'd be ahead of the curve.

Although personally I think it looks terrible, it is in good shape (especially for its age) and you should be able to find someone who really likes the dual rear wheels, but aside from that the truck is lucky to bring you $1500.

Dude for some reason the 2dr dually looks awesome. Most i saw have been ext cab. I say lift it and drive it.

I can't help but wonder how much those duallies could achieve with a 4cyl running the show...

that is a pretty slick lookin truck , that sure as hell aint no JC Whitney dually kit

and i am telling you right now i talked with the original owner of an 86 4x4 Daully Ranger Dump Truck , and he showed me all the paperwork where he ordered it from the FACTORY with the dually rear axle , it was a factory order through the fleet production office , just like getting a 1st gen Explorer with a 4cyl , 5spd , Manual T-case , been there , seen one , guy had all the papers from Fleet Order from the day he ordered it , just because they are few and far between , does not mean they do not exist , and just because they were not available to the general public does not mean they do not exist

and i never did find out what possessed that guy to order a Ranger for a Dump Truck
