So I've been getting some hard fail codes of 83 and 87, one of those (can't remember which) is to the fuel pump circuit. Just found that's only on EFI models, I have a feedback carb. So I looked at the PCM and it turns out to be a reman 87 and it's labeled for a feedback carb?????? Now the other code is for the egr solenoid which I already know is faulty but with the other fuel pump circuit code, does that affect performance of the engine? Should I shell out $100 for the proper PCM?

Also, my Bronco is an 85, manual 5 speed with a 2.8l v6

by "87 ecm in 85" do you mean it is allegedly a 1987 ecm?

I'd spend the $100 to duraspark it or do the TBI conversion cammed and Rico put together.

Sent from, wait how did this get here?

the 2.9 ecm had a different connector plug than the 2.8L TFI ecm

something doesn't add up here. you are certain that your truck is a 1985? and not a newer truck with a carbureted engine swapped in?

because the 1985 didn't have a fuel "pump circuit", it had a mechanical fuel pump

Yeah its an 85, checked vin several times, and yes it has the mechanical fuel pump on the block, I'm seriously confused here.

TWISTER is right, we did do that, and it was easy: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/2_8-chevy-tbi-swap.shtml

i think someone at some point tried swapping dash harnesses or something to a newer model because this just doesn't add up :icon_confused:

i do agree that you should ditch it all anyway. even on a properly functioning TFI/feedback carb system they suck so bad people pull them off
