My 87 Bll has a heater fan issue. It was only running with two speeds rather than four. One day coming home the fan quit all together. I was able to get it running again by switching the heat/vent switch back and forth a couple times. I reasoned that the switch was going bad so I replaced it with a new one that had a a/c button on it like my 85 with add-on a/c. Still did the same thing two speeds only med & high. Next to be replaced was the resistor and figured why stop there and replaced the motor only to end up where I started with 2 speeds. What did I miss?

What does the connector to the fan look like? If it's setup like in the Rangers with the connector in the engine bay, they get corroded and eventually short.

I looked at it and seemed ok. No corrosion.

It's not a slider is it? Those get corroded too, just take it apart and clean it up was all they took. Some reason I also supposed a connection in there somewhere

Did you try just grounding the fan to see if it would run at top speed?

Which speeds do you have?

Usually when you have a resistor issue you only have hi.

I think you mentioned it already, but maybe cleaning contacts or checking switches, grounds?
