Hello....I was in an accident with my blue Bomber...:-(
There are no doubt older ford trucks out on the road OLDER than my 1986 Ranger, but without Kelly Blue Book, how much is in the ballpark?

Yes, I've posted on these boards for many years, sought out advice, and now after spending about $650.00 in repairs and maintenance replacement parts that I've spent in the last few months alone...My truck got TOTALED last WEDNESDAY.

I was the original owner of my truck. I had 155,985 miles when this happened, just replaced my Starter, TFI Module, Ignition Starter Switch, Battery, Both head lamps, relays for the Fuel and computer, replaced my in-line fuel filter, AIC (air control bypass) not to mention a $200.00 Sony Radio/Speakers. :-(

Totally the other guys fault. He admitted that right away, several times in fact, that he thought his tire blew out, but I really think he made an unsafe lane change and was caught with no space between he and I, then clipped my left rear driver's side panel/bumper, which threw me into a left pit maneuver and tossed me 180 spin, resting right next to him. I've had insurance all my 41 years of driving, but replacement cost for this vehicle is somewhat perplexing.

Any ideas on how I go about finding this trucks worth? I appreciate all the help you all have given me over the years, in the various forums, and if I happen to get another Ford after all of this mess is cleared up, you'll see here again! Thank you!

Cause of the age (if it was still in good condition) I would say an honest figure is $1000 to $1500. Unless you got a new one these trucks aren't worth much. The mid 90's go for $1500 to $2000 in my area. The newest body style goes for a lot more.

Insurance wise they are going to see old truck that cost more to fix than scrap. Unless the damage was light enough.

Yeah, I'd assess the damage and see if it can be fixed just for the sentimental value alone...most things can be fixed as long as the frame isn't bent...and that kind of accident shouldn't have done frame damage...the box can be replaced...as can the bumpers and even the rear axel and suspension...

If it has any sentimental value...

Otherwise...you have a good running engine with plenty of new parts that someone more than likely would buy from you and get you at least half of the write-off value just in parts...

Sorry about the accident though...glad you made it without serious injuries...often the worst damage is psychological...but you will get over it one way or another...

Thanks Guys!
This ranger '86 year was in IMO, one of the best years they made this vehicle, Engine and paint. So we are talking about a 26 year old truck. I could post photos here if I can.

I've had a few people leave notes on my truck asking me if I ever wanted to sell it, to please call them, they were going to use it as a Baja type of off-road, and they would make it worth my while. OK....a few years later I'm in this accident, so all I know is it started to run after this past years of repairs, quite good, in fact, so one day I have a truck, and the next I have none!

Life sometimes is not fair, and I don't want to sound greedy......So, I ask you, it is fair for them, since it's their 100% at fault, to penalize me and give me the utmost lowest retail value of the car?

I had a feeling that Kelly Blue book would not have my year listed in value...According to them, they only cover years from 1992 - 2011, or 2012.

I'll hold my breath until all this is settled. Thank you all once again!

That's crazy how that accident happened. Good thing you're ok.

Thanks for the pics...it does look like it could be easily fixed...as long as the frame isn't bent...and it doesn't look like it went that deep...everything could be replaced otherwise...

The body doesn't look too rusty and while you have the box off you could refinish the frame and coat it to make it last forever...if you want...I'd come down and buy your motor if it wasn't so far away...

Value is determined by what it would cost to find another truck in similar condition. I would say about $1500. You need to talk to the insurance company with this in mind.

^ You're response and sig from Tapatalk is pretty funny.:icon_twisted:

Glad you're OK but Yeah I would venture to guess maybe 1000 bucks or so. It's a shame. Perhaps you can part out what's good on it?

I can totally sympathize with you mine was totalled by my kid about 1 1/2 months ago. I just sold it wrecked for $500. mine took out the fender door and tweeked the cab. I am so missing it right now its not funny.

Hey Duane, how's your B2 doing? At least your truck will live on as your friend's shop truck. It always sucks to see them go to the junkyard. Bozo4ford, that must have been a scary wreck. Any word from the insurance company yet? Don't let them lowball you. They will try sometimes.

It hasn't happened yet. I accidentally came across a ranger 4x4 and realized i really liked it more, unfortunately it sold so I am looking for one like it instead. If I don't find something soon I can still pick up the b2.
Duane

I have been wanting a 4wd B2 for a while now. I like the bed on the Ranger, but it is only good for one passenger, and even then I smack them in the head once in a while going for reverse. If I could only have one, it's definitely Ranger though. I use the bed way too much not to have it.
