'85 Ranger Restomod

Last winter was a good one. A year ago we had a blizzard this past week, today it was in the 60's.

Oh, I need that 60s temperature weather. Not yet where I'm at. But hope is on the horizon.

That over load plate looks bent. It should be flat. Not to say that is why your springs are messed up. It just looks like the truck was over loaded at one time, which can be bad on springs.

Springs were used from a 2009 scab. He thought they were too soft, I wonder if he overloaded them and I didn’t notice before I installed them.

That could very well be.

Going to try going open wheel...

Also discovered how the torque box is still getting water in it:

Main goal is to get the doors to open and close nicer. The passenger side is really bad, usually passengers think the door is locked. Wifey has to use two hands to open it. Truck is nosed into the garage and PS is against the wall so we will figure out how to do this with the DS. Hinges are tight, this all started after I replaced the cab mounts last year.

Sway bar parts are cleaned:

And the brackets are primed:

Burned a little rubber:

Not near as much fun as the brochure made it out to be...

Boo-yaa, DONE! Well 25% done anyway.

I'm looking at that last picture like "Why does this guy only have four fingers". I totally did not see the thumb.

I haven't slept a full night in almost two weeks.

Now get to bed!

Ok, in light of the new TRS Roundup this fall the current plans this year for the truck are as follows.

Gotta dos:

Finish the rear suspension
- Install new bushings in Explorer leaf springs
- Delete the factory lift block and install Explorer springs in truck
- Replace at least the passenger side shackle (which is seized) if not both (if I need Belltech shackles to maintain ride height)
- I will also need to relocate the brake line mounts (aka weld a 1/4" nut a little lower on the spring perch so it doesn't hit the spring in its new position)

Replace fuel pump/sender
- Delete the frame mount Mr. Gasket pump and go to a low pressure in tank fuel pump like out of a '86ish truck

Install ahead of axle front swaybar (and delete existing behind axle front sway bar)

Reroute the exhaust to allow the front driveshaft to be in the truck at all times like a normal 4wd.

Add another 12 circuit blue sea fuse panel for battery constant power along with changing the key power relay to support more demand (and some other tweaks to the electrical system too)

Add dual Mercedes efans.

Mount flag on truck

Like to dos:

Finish and mount tire carrier/bumper

Install a CB radio

If I can find the *(^&*%! fuel tank skid plate that I have I would like to mount that too.

I really hope to go and the "gotta do" list is really pretty short and sweet (compared to last year!) but there are other issues in play too.

Anyway to update on progress so far I have the fender back on, I think the doors open better. Alignment is still off but after delving into it the alignment of everything is off and I can't do much about it as the truck sits now. The hood isn't square to the cowl so the fender is either off compared to the cowl or hood... I just need to do more to get after it and I am kind of under excited about doing it, I will probably call it good until I pull the truck apart to repaint it.

Almost done painting the sway bar stuff, just gotta figure out end links and I can go back together with it:

It is interesting all three of the bigger stamped parts have this stamped into them, I can't find much about them. Just a bunch of crap about the Nissan Titan.

The two big plates have ovals and Ford part numbers on the other side. The little brace is just smooth.

I went this direction for the flag and the mount.

Thanks. I was wondering where to get the flag from. Was thinking about local bicycle shops. But their mounts might be kinda wimpy for this.
