Hey guys,

As I am sure it is the same in the Ranger, my '85 Bronco 2 has a 4 bar mechanism (I believe it is anyhow) and the passenger side linkage keeps popping off of the pivot point.

Is there a way I can permanently fix this? I don't if there is a replacement bushing or something similar?

Thanks,

Jordan

Most of those you have to get a new linkage, you generally can't get just bushings.

On my to do list is to convert my '85 to the later style linkage so I can have the later style wiper arms that cam over so a guy can clean the windshield easier.

Is there a clip or something that holds it on the bushing? My bushing is still there. If it had like hole drilled through it and and a cotter pin or something, it would still work.

If they are like the ones in my CR-V, they were a clip on design that got pressed on until they snapped in place. You had to buy the whole linkage to change them out and couldn't just buy the bushings.

Well the bushing presses onto a ball, reminds me of the gas cylinder balls on the tailgate and similar, but much larger.

Bushing did seem worn, but it was holding on the ball. I decided to drill a hole through it and put a hitch pin though it after the arm was slide on. It is holding for now.

I've done this, it's definately worth the effort.

IIRC the 83-85+ should have a little tab that you pull up on the arm to lock them up like that. It's not "cam over" but certainly not difficult to do.

Also have you checked to see if the later arms will possibly fit right onto what you have now? I've heard of guys putting later model arms on the older fullsize trucks, so it doesn't sound like they changed the arm mounting styles much over the years.

The only tab I have seen is to remove the arm, I intend to look closer tomorrow now though.

Yes you can pull out the tab and lock the arm up out of the way. It is the same way as removing them, but it will hold them up.

Yeah, that's what I was remembering.

Sorry to hijack this guys but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Does anyone know a part number for Wiper Arms for an 85 Bronco II?
Thanks
