I am finishing up my 8.8 swap on my 1991 ranger. The only issue I'm having is the ranger parking break cables don't have the loop for the parking break lever. I have the cables from a mountaineer with the same axle but they aren't the right length to reach on my truck. can I just take the loops off of the new cables and splice them onto my stock cables or is there a better option?

The cables from a Jeep Grand Cherokee (with disc brakes) work perfectly, believe it or not. Look in the wrecking yards or they are available new. East Coast Gear provides these cables when you buy an 8.8 diff from them for your projects.

Just an FYI...

I edited your title and then moved the post over to the Brakes forum.

This info can help others in the future.

I just recently did an 8.8 swap into my 89, I used the cables from a mid 90s explorer, from the splice on the frame rail where the 2 sides are connected, the brackets and all were a direct swap. but I had to improvise a way to connect the 2 cables to the front cable
