77 LTD II

But im gonna probably take a road trip down there maybe next spring...i need bumpers, atleast 1 bumper shock, and a few other odds and ends....i dont even wanna know what shipping on 2 bumpers for this thing would be.
Wise move on getting the parts yourself. At work we're having a lot of problems with motor freight lines lately, including damaging and losing cargo and disregarding instructions on receiving hours and days. A lot of truck drivers are good guys, but plenty of them are mouth-breathers. You don't want to trust a lot of carriers with handling your bumpers these days.

Thats what made me nervous about this rocker piece....they shipped it fed ex. In my experence lately they are the worst for it.

I woulda felt better about UPS having it.

They packaged it very very well though

It’s easy to be king of the dipshits. These companies set the bar so low, if you eventually get the package you call it a win.

Saw this at a car show today, not certain of the year, very few cars had tags in them. Says “elite” but sure looks like a ltd2/torino.

If it was today, then the year is 2023.

Don't worry about it too much; it's just part of getting on up there in years.

Seriously, that's a sweet ride. The old '70s land yachts don't get enough love.

Yes thats an elite. Made 74-76. Basically a 2 door torino with different styling....ford basically threw on quad stack headlights and a different rear end style, tweaked the gauge cluster a bit and it became the LTD II lol

They really dont. Yes they were down on power big time compared to the late 60s/early 70s stuff but they are crazy comfortable, easy to wrench on, had power steering/brakes and front discs....i think they are usually scoffed at just because of power outputs and love it or hate it styling.

The power thing is easy to fix...and you can get 60's acceleration with alot more comfort for alot less money.

Personally...i love them.

Well, land yachts weren't really supposed to be fast; they were all about getting there (eventually!) in comfortable decadence.

As far as the styling, just look at the crap that they make today. What looked hideous in the '70s now looks absolutely "classic" fantastic.

I'd love to drive something like that around. Having to dock at the gas pump often isn't the problem. The big problem would be finding classic rock 8-track tapes that will still play . . .

You know...with the airplane gears my old LTD didnt do that bad...running 55-60 id get around 20. In town itd drop pretty fast though

I hated those cars, they were Torino Elites, basically a gaudied up 2 door with an extended nose. The used standard Torino hood springs even though the hood was longer, the hoods would fall back down a foot or so when I let go. They cornered like a boat and, as big as they were, my head brushed on the headliner if I sat in the back, I'm only 5' 10".

My first car was almost a 75 Eldorado. 2dr almost as long as a first gen Expedition.

My standard cab Ranger has both more legroom and more headroom. :icon_confused:
