Marketing

It's all about marketing. You haven't marketed your product.

I looked at your site. For $5.00 I can have a picture of me the size of a postage stamp stuck on the side of your truck.

Seriously. That's all I got from your website.

I clicked on the 'about' page and found that the team "consists of Gregg Bouma, Kay Awaad and Richard Bartell. 3 friends who share the love of desert and speed."

That's it.

Why would I want to put money in to that? It's a pretty web page that is asking for a handout.

As a business owner, I'd like to see the TRS logo on a truck. It doesn't necessarily have to win, it just needs to be seen. The team has to be sociable and a positive representative for the TRS logo.

I actually that it would be cool to offer contingency at a couple of races and pay some cash if the truck wins it's class. Offer the logo for free. Cash if you win. Or maybe a decreased amount for 2nd.

But you have to tell me (us) why I (we) should sponsor your truck. Marketing. You haven't done that. How do I know you guys have the experience to even get the truck off the line, or any distance at all. Where and when can I expect people to see it?

Companies are looking for opportunites to advertise. Now, I said advertise, not sponsor. Because really, that's what it is. Every company is looking for advertising to help promote their product, and the advertising is a business expense that they deduct at tax time. Businesses need as many deductions as they can get. But they don't want to just throw the money away. They want to be making a good investment as well. They want to know that the advertising is going to get seen, and show them in a good light.

You need to take another look at your approach and re-think it.

If anyone else is competing in 2012, you may want to re-read what I just wrote. It's easier to understand when you find yourself on the opposite end as the person who may be doing the sponsoring.

Hi Jim, nice to have you on the thread, now that I know who you are.
Reading back what you wrote above, I thought to myself, we got a potential sponsor, silly me, I went googling you and Trs to find out what you sell, hahahha, I got it now.
Listen, we will be honored to carry your logo and would love to do promotions for you here in Baja, we have an average of 1 race a month in north Baja beside the big three 250,500 and the B1k.
Rangers are used a lot as a race truck specially in class 7, which we eyed it from the beginning for the simple reason of low cost for starters and high possibility of winning due to the low finish rate in this class.
We know we are not good at marketing, but hopefully in the future we will be able to hire professional help or partner with someone like you who can help in that field. Thanks again for advice and the great forum.

Happy new year to all. It's been quite here, and here too. I mean the thread and San Felipe. Dick left to San Diego yesterday for wife's 2 doctors appointments today and will return tomorrow. He injured his right wrest doing something and has been working with one hand for almost a week or so. So he didn't do anything with the roll cage yet, we got the tubes, or most of it, thanks to all our donors. Dick is still working on the engine still, he replaced front and rear seals and waiting on lower bearing set and then will drop the engine back in. Gregg and Dick and I went to the local flee market here in San Felipe like we did for the last 3 weeks carrying a banner that says SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RACE TEAM and asking for $5 donation for a good cause and symbolic return, great. the problem is, we live in a small community, most people know each other at least the face. Thinking of hiring a tecate dancer

I would like to introduce myself. I am Rick Best and along with my wife Maryjane we are the newest members of Team Overall Motorsports. I am the new Media manager and my wife is doing Public Relations. We live in the San Felipe area in our place in the desert and spend summers in Canada.

It is true also about the Tecate girls that Kay mentioned in his last post. He actually did hire two Tecate girls to hang out at the swap meet on Saturday at the Team Overall Motorsports booth. I will post pics of them on the blog. Mexico and San Felipe is an awesome place to live because it is so free. You can drive anything almost anywhere with no trouble from cops. People literally dance and party in the streets.

We have updated the website and now have a blog where you can read the latest news and see pics of the project and the people.
We also have a super cool Ebay auction for an 8 day all inclusive vacation. We pick you up in San Diego, El Centro or Yuma, you do the whole race with us starting in Mexicali the first night you arrive, then contingency the next morning then you jump in the passenger seat for day one of the race, the next three race days you follow in chase trucks until we get to Del Cabo and the awards ceremony and then 2 days in Cabo San Lucas partying with the crew. Then we fly you back to either San Diego or LA. The race crew is staying on for an additional week or two after this and the auction winner is welcome to stay at his own cost too paying only for food and drink after which we fly you back to San Diego or LA.
This is a really cool trip 1000 miles of the most amazing scenery in the world. You always have the option to stay in a motel each night, but the majority of the crew will be camping under the stars either in the desert or on the beach. Everything is included except for booze which everyone usual pitches in for. You are considered a crew member and will be treated as one. This will be a very intense and awesome trip for those going, and my wife and I can hardly wait. We are taking our truck a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4x4 as an official chase and rescue vehicle at our own expense but we have always wanted to drive to Cabo so we figured here is the opportunity.

The price is $3500 for one person and $4000 for two. If you can get the time off you can spend as long as 15 or 20 days in Baja or as little as 8 if you can't get enough time off. We are very flexible on everything for this trip for the winner and will accommodate almost any reasonable request.

We also have a Facebook page where we need you to Like us and we also would appreciate your comments.
