Hey guys/gals I am currently doing the 5.0L swap from a 1990 Mustang LX
I purchased the *Ford Ranger EFI V8 Conversion Manual* for $25.00

I am currently having some issues though....
Here is picture of the main harness from the manual I purchased.

The problem is I cant find this plug, and yes the wiring from the Ranger and Mustang are out of the vehicles.
Can someone tell me if this looks fimiliar to them and were it is...?

Ok now I need to take 2 plugs from the Mustang harness and run wires from these 2 plugs and tap them into the Rangers harness/gauges etc.. Witch goes into the main harness *Picture above*

In the manual this is what plugs they are talking about....

In this picture it's showing the 2 plugs from the Mustang harness.
The lower plug is the green rectangular one witch is right by the EEC "Computer" witch I have found.
The top plug is the one im having problems with. That top plug is right near the EEC diagnose port when it was in the mustang, witch was right near the drivers strut tower/brake booster.
The problem is there is 2 plugs side by side....
- One is Grey and is suppose to be a 8 pin round female but there is only 5 wires in that plug.
- And the second plug is Black 8 pin but only has 7 wires coming from it.
I have made some diarams.

In this picture is the plugs that I have that are side by side and I dont know witch one I need.

and the plug this manual is telling me to look for looks like this....

As you can see they don't match very well.
So hopefully you guys will understand what im talking about....if not just ask me a question and ill try and answer you as fast as possible so please bare with me.
Thanks.

The big-ass block plug looks to be the main connector to the firewall. It may or may not bolt up to your factory firewall connector. You need to get that in to get power to your fusebox. Its going to be the biggest plug on the drivers side loom.

The solution is simple to your plug problem. What are you tapping into? Tach? Oil pressure? etc. Go grab a manual for the year of harness that you have, and trace it down in the schematics. Its got to be one or the other. Color may not match, but pin location will. Are you being told to splice into a pin thats not there?

that big plug isnt from no 86

yup. Its a 1990 plug. Hate to say it, but your going to need to do a wee'bit of splicing. Or, hit the wrecking yard and pull the Entire dash and interior harness from a 88 to 90's BII/Ranger/Exploder.
On the plus side, you will have a updated interior and all things should plug-and-play with the mustang harness.
Sorry man, I didnt notice that you were swapping into a pre-efi truck.

there is no plug and play. just cut the plugs off the mustang harness and solder them in where need be

where are you located?

Very sorry for the late respose been so busy....

I am located in Trenton, Ont.

Yeah the truck is a 86 and we don't have this big plug. but in the manual I bought at the back of it, it says I need to work with a 8 Pin plug witch yes I do have 2 of them I just dont know witch one it is....:no2:

I will take a few pics tonight and post them to show you all what Im working with.
Awesome replys everyone and thanks for the help im really in need of it.
