i have a 89 b2, and it doesnt want to go into 4x4 low. It has the push button 4x4, 2.9fi, 5spd, and a new transfer case actuator motor. It will go into 4x4 the second you hit the button, but if u put it in low, the light just flashes:icon_confused:

try driving forword and backword well trying to put it in low..

already gave that a try and it still didnt work. You can hear the actuator motor engage when you put it in 4x4, but when you push the low button, it remains silent:sad:

so, i drove it around my house a little bit in 4x4 high, and eventually i put it back in 2wd, and then i couldnt get it into 4x4 anymore, no lights, no clicking, nothing. So i took the module out and put a 92 explorer sport module in and now it goes in and out of 4x4 really good, but still there is no low range. No ligts, no clicking, not anything now. What could it be?:icon_confused:

did you try putting it in netrual when you try to put it into 4 low?? on my chevy you have to do that..

i have the same setup on my BII(5spd, 2.9, 4x4) and about 5 years ago i had the same problem. i crawled under there and disconnected all the wires on the t-case and cleaned them out real good. i dont know if thats what fixed it or if i did something and didnt notice, but it has worked just fine since then.

i know it's gonna do it again one day, so i'm looking at gettin a manual t-case and maybe an auto tranny. its better to not have to rely on the electronics to get into 4wd.

Sometimes you have to be in neutral with the clutch out at a dead stop and sometimes you have to be at a dead stop with the clutch in to get it in 4 low, depending on the type of vehicle.

All my auto t-case RBVs have had auto trans, lol, so I don't have much experience to draw on.

I know my 88 was touchy about going in an out of 4x4. Never did figure out what was wrong, I pulled the switch out to test it, couldn't find a problem, put it back together and it worked fine. :dunno:

have to have the clutch in on mine
