My credo
If it ain't broke...fix it before it does.
96 4x4 auto with 4r44e , I assume, as it is not original to truck. Previous owner replaced out of truck and I installed motor and trans together. Last night I got the blinking o/d off light. Light is off all day today but I have noticed a little slip between 2nd and 3rd gear. Some research has led me to think a solenoid in the value body may have gone bad, perhaps an o-ring on solenoid?

More research has turned up the intermediate servo bore as the likely culprit. There are sleeving options that fix this as well as a company offering the temporary fix with a Ford OEM machined servo that accepts o-rings in order to seal up the servo. This is a poor design, having something steel ride inside of an aluminum case, but it is what it is. I think the permanent fix of a manual transmission may be the route that I am going, would rather have the manual anyway.

Wrong repair for you transmission. That's for 5R55S/W

Any idea what would be the correct repair for this?
