417a tranny any good?

i was at the junk yard to day and took the manual hubs for my d35, while i was there i looked at what tranny it had and it was a 417A 5, speed is it any good? i want to get rid of my fm146, thanks

it was a 94 explorer with a 4.0

That should be a Mazda 5speed. That'll bolt to your 2.9, and is worth the effort.

The mazda 5 speed is the best manual you can get in the RBVs. If you have a FM146 now, you'll have to swap everything between the engine and tcase, but it's worth the effort.
