4.0L High Output ??

I saw a third gen Ranger FX4 yesterday with a fender emblem I've never seen before. It had the standard "Ranger" lettering but under the letters it read "4.0L High Output" in smaller red letters.

Was there a HO version of the 4.0 liter V6 ?

I'm pretty sure it's just an aftermarket emblem.

I have a pair of these going on my truck...

Ford never built any such truck... but I think they look cool.

Go google "jeep 4.0L high output" emblem....see if any look familar.

They were on every jeep just about in the 90's....my guess if they are custom or harvested off a jeep

Jeeps had an ho version of the 4.0. Some 95+ cherokees had 4.0 with high output under the numbers. My wife had a 95 sport eith the heavy duty cooling system, brakes, and tow package that cane with that badge

And i was wrong. 91-94 is what google said. To differentiate between the renix and chrysler engines

I coulda sworn they went up through 95 or 96.

it looked like the standard "Ranger" chrome fender emblem with that small blank area bellow the letters engraved "4.0 High Output" painted in red. If it was homemade it was well done. Wish I had taken a picture of. it

I coulda sworn they went up through 95 or 96.

91-01 Cherokee 4.0s were all the high output. All it really means is that it's not a Renix which is what the 87-90 models were. In the later years they quit calling it high output but it was the exact same motor and hp rating.
