Well i started collecting parts for my 3.0 to 4.0 swap....i found a 2001 xlt 4x4 extended cab at pick n pull...4.0 engine..i pulled the ecm from the firewall...and grabbed the column...the airbag was removed from the steering wheel...there's 2 plugs under the airbag..i found the airbag and it has only one plug.. leaving a socket empty.

So my question is..is the plug under airbag for cruise control ?
My 1999 extended cab 3.0 xlt 4x4 has cruise...and I'd like have it after the swap...no i didn't get the motor or trans, those had already been pulled...

Also does the ecm control the cruise? If so then I'd need a ecm from a donor that has cruise?

I am assuming that the key and column have are required sure to the pats..does that have to come from the same donor as the ecm? I really would like to retain the control...

Thanks for the help..

ECM, Pats, and keys are all paired together. Need all 3.

Cruise is separate module.

Thanks...sounds like i can still have cruise if i just get a steering wheel with the controls s my truck already has cruise...the ecm column and keys from donor are all factory matched....the donor just didn't have cruise.....
Is this correct?

I think my donor steering wheel and column 2001 xlt 4x4 4.0 auto had cruise and some one removed the air bag to get the cruise buttons..I'm thinking the 2 holes in the side of the column are for unbolting the air bag...4 bolts under ab in the cast metal facing driver would probably be for the cruise buttons ????
