4.0 SOHC head gaskets/timing chains

Yup, no oil or anything. I just put it on and torqued the bolts. It'll give me something to do over this holiday weekend. I actually enjoy the "working on my engine" part. Taking it out and putting it back in not so much as well as my truck not running.

I hear you. I'm kind of in the same boat. Push the truck forward or tow it so I can lift the cap off and set it down on some saw horses. Repeat to get out from under the cap to do the deck system and unbolt the bed. And I'll be back out in the driveway again... Boy a carport would be nice right about now....

At this point, I would be happy with just a heated garage. Apparently, I'm not even allowed to have that.

If it takes me too long to get my engine ready to go back in my truck I may get one of those cheap harbor freight portable garages and just build it around my truck to keep the area dry and snow free. A space heater and some lights in there and I'll be good to go.

Then again, if I have to lay in a snowbank I'll probably get it done a lot quicker. Nothing gets a job done like freezing temps, and a good wind chill while working with no gloves on🫩

I already have the carport. I just need to put it up. Vehicles keep breaking, interrupting the process.

Cylinder heads back from the machine shop and in perfect order!!! Picked them up yesterday morning before I had to go sit in jury selection for 8 hours straight (that's your reward for paying taxes). Full rebuild cost for both heads was $650. That's cheaper than either set of those junk reman heads I tried.

The reman heads were painted to look nice and "new", who gives a shit? So they spend their time trying to make it look like they do a good job instead of ACTUALLY doing a good job..

I'm not the first person to say this but I can't stress it enough and I learned my lesson. Stay away from remanufactured crap unless you absolutely have no choice. Try to find a local machine shop that does good work, it'll be less stress in the end and maybe even cheaper!
