4.0 Install!

Ah, the time has finally come for my 1992 Explorer 4.0 to be dropped into my 89 BII. It's just me and my father working on it so any hints and tips will be gratefully excepted. The engine has the transmission mated to it and we will be dropping the whole assembly in. What should we watch out for, what should we aim for? I just need general tips and facts, for my dad hasnt done this since his 67 Mustang back in the 80s with a swingset, this time we have a crane. Anyways thanks in advance!

But seriously, it is pretty straight forward. Drop it in and hook it all up.

I always hammer the pinchweld at the firewall to trans tunnel, it helps with access to the bellhousing bolts later in the swap, and later on down the road.

Label wiring and take the time before unhooking everything. Pictures of how the wires were set up so you remember when setting it back up. Wiring gremlins suck. Still dealing with a few cause I went straight to taking everything apart instead of labeling the ends. Replace hard to reach parts while engine is out. Why not right! Have fun, good luck!
