Just wondering what kind of times you guys think i can expect. What are yall runnin? I have a 88 singlecab short bed with a 306, ported polished and shaved e7 heads stud mounted with 1.6rr's, a comp xe270hr cam. edelbrock intake mani and holley carb.....not sure if im going with a t5 or c4 yet?????? 1/4mile??? 1/8mile???

13-14 till you get the suspension dialed in

speaking of suspension....what would be a good way to lower the rear...i did the 8.8 swap from a 91 ranger, and im getting some lakewood traction bars.....would you reccomened flipping the leafs to the bottom of the axle? and would i still be able to use those bars? im kinda new at this stuff so any tips would be greatly appreciated as im on a "college" budget but then again i wont my stuff done right the first time....i plan on getting limited slip and 373's very soon and one day down the road switching to 31 splines

Lakewood traction bar want work witg an axle flip. Need more info to give you a good guess on what it will run like compression ratio, which eddy intake, carb, if you go with a C4 what stall converter. My father in law runs an 88 with a 306, c4 3000 stall, and 4.10s out back he runs 7.83 in the 1/8th. My 92 runs 7.38 at 104 at the same track if i could get it to hook it would be in the 6s.

Flipping the leafs will cause more axle wrap. and what about caltracs? When I bought them for my duramax I saw they had sets for the rangers.

wow thats pretty impressive...as long as i get near the 8 second mark i will be happy because i still want this truck to be very streetable and that seems like a decent time....as long as i can hang with a ls1 lol a bunch of my buddys have them. but yea im running et streets, edelbrock performer its been gasket matched, and a holley 700...spreedpro hyper pistons so no spray until i build my 351, and my heads are shaved some. I think ill be looking for 9.5:1 possibly 10:1 compression MAYBE?...i plan on running a proform electric water pump, stock alternator, and msd6al with the blaster 2. But big question is how can i get the rear end a little lower....the front looks perfect tho. i would like to keep my leafs too

Why no nitrous? I have Hypereutectic pistons in my 351w and have been spraying it with a 150 shot for many years. If you have the fuel/nitrous mix worked out right you wont have any problems unless you start spraying anything more then a 150 shot.

it seems like everybody tells me to go forged if i want to spray any at all....but then again everytime i go to the drag strip theres someone running casts or hypers and doing just fine...my buddy had a 306 5.0 with 150 shot on cast pistons and ran it for a long time running 6.8's and he didnt check the fuel one night and it sprayed all nitrous cuz the fuel was too low and a piston hit the head....but im gonna spray 100-150 shot as soon as i get the truck put together just to see what it will do. i agree with you though as long as you dont go crazy with it i dont see why it would hurt it...what heads are you running though thats what i should prolly get next...any experience with ported e7's??

yea, ive heard alot of good things about trickflow lately, my buddys got a set of afr 185's for sale $1000 completely assembled i might try to look into...im getting ready to put my heads on now and see how everything fits...im wondering if ill need a diff length pushrods with the new valve springs and roller rockers...thanks for the advice on the traction bars and stuff though man

I would pass on the afr's and spend a little more and get a better head. No mater which heads you use you will need new pushrods and rockers. Springs will depend on what your cam requires and what comes on the heads.

Sounds like everyone has been talking to jay allen and swingging from his nuts!!! :icon_rofl:
There is nothing wrong with AFR's, Canfeilds, World, Edelbrock and any other inline valve heads. There are guys out there that make big horsepower with other then TF heads. If you can find a good deal on almost any big brand named head and its in your budget then go for them including TF's. If you are looking for maximum horsepower and money is not a concern then buy what fits the bill. :icon_thumby:

A 408 Stroker motor, C4 with Moderate stall and a small shot of Nitrous would make your LS1 buddies back down... I watched a guy with a 93 Foxbody that had the setup I'm talking about kill a Supercharged Z06...:icon_hornsup:

You'll need more than that to take it to LS1 cars... They'll run anywhere between 8.5-9.0 1/8th bone stock... With bolt ons they get into the 10's in the 1/4...
