302 Ranger ET???

....they are even more badass then i think they are.

its all in context though.

cost effective power. i cant even think of building a 351 that out performs a 6.0 for all around use for less then 4 grand. and getting the parts combos i prefer isnt no picnic either these days...what would take me two days to pull off just five years ago can take over a month now to source parts for depending on time of year. dyno time...forget it! most of them are logged out over a month right now. its the end of the fukkin season...:dunno:

what i can tell you....theres no windfall of drop in 330 hp fords laying around...

sad really. i sure as fwak dont like them because all the cool kids have them.

simply appreciate what it is. and grateful they are there.

Right i get what you guys are saying...i shouldve probbally just saved my money and got diff heads but for right now i think ill be happy with it. I was planning on buying a 302 block in about a year or so and start to build a stroker motor and then just swap it out with the 306 i have now. But then again everyone tells me if youre going to stroke a 302 to a 347 its best to just go with a 351? What would yall do and do you think I will have alot of clearance issues with a 351? I do not care about heat, power steering or anything

Also guys if i were to sell my e7 heads how much would you ask? They literrally just came out the machine shop, brand new studs, guide plates, valve job, valve seals, ported and polished, comp dual springs, 10 degree retainers and keepers before i took them to the machine shop they had 100k miles on them

i wish i had the money to...i just had $1085 worth of machining done to the motor though, it looks brand spankin new so i dont think i could part with it right now. I kinda like the idea of a "very" small v8 making power though and kinda eager to see what i can get out of it. I just need to find some heads and when i got my 351 built i could still use those heads...im only 20 so im still learning and have alot of learning to do but eventually i will probablly go with a 351,.....how much could ported e7's go for on craigslist? i cant find any up on there now?

theres a reason you cant find them.

if you had mike get you one of the deals where he is...you could melt down the block you had worked and still be money ahead:icon_surprised:

but in this case with an older truck build what ya got....and really consider a stroker.

For the price you paid for machining that 5.0L you could have had a pretty kick butt LQ4 (~500FWHP with all GM stock parts)... To get that 5.0L to make the same amount of power it's going to take alot more money, and alot more cam... It's going to end up being less streetable, as long as you're ok with that then the 5.0L will work just fine... If I were you and I was on a budget, I would work on getting the truck to be able to use all that power, link the rear, or do something to make it stick... You could have 8763825736 hp and it would be useless if all that power goes to spinning the tires instead of hooking up and propelling the truck... I really would like to see what it takes for a Ranger to be competitive with an LS car...

Ok, thanks for the honesty...all i can say is now i know better, i guess i just wanted a clean 302 ranger from the get go but now im leaning more towards wanting a little bit more power. I found some edelbrock rpm performer heads in my area with 1.7 rr's for $800. If i can get a few bucks out of my e7's then Im gonna try to get em. Gimme about a year or so and Ill start building a stroker i reckon, after i get all of the suspension worked out that is. I was planning on running a spool instead of a lim slip but my buddy kindof freaked when i said that and told me it was a mistake???? Will the 28 splines hold up to a stroker or would you upgrade those as well?

Just build what you can afford for now. Add more as you get the money. Those E7's should bring about 175 bux, give or take.
I bought some 351w E7's rebuilt for 175, 2 yrs ago.
For the street i probably would steer away from a spool. Again thats your call.

If you put your leaf springs under the frame it'll give alot more tire room. search for member chvlfrk he did this. Good luck

thanks bro, i know my grandpa would be proud as this was his truck before he passed, thanks for all the help guys and information...im sure ill need alot more along the way of building this truck
