302 and c4 swap question

well guys i found a 84 ranger that a guy put a good running 302 and c4 tranny in but the body is really rough...he started restoring it and said he got layed off and couldnt finish it..so im gonna buy it and pull everything out of it from radiator to the rearend and a few other parts and put in my 85..the truck looks like mine so im hopeing that nothing changed from 84 model to 85.. i pick it up this coming saturday and i will post pics of the engine conpartment cuz im sure i'll have questions...

You might check the rear axle, it might be the same 7.5 you already have. But also, it might have better gearing...

yea i will check it out..the truck didnt have power steering so im going to have to go junk yard diving to try to find some kinda bracket so i can use my power steering..im trying to do a search on what cars or trucks to look for but not having much luck..not very many 70's cars here in my area...most are crushed and gone

well i got the 302 out of the 84 and got it on the engine stand..still got to roll the tranny out from under the truck..im still driving my 85 so that will give me time to clean the v8 up.. i dont understand some people, the guy i bought the 84 from put i nice 302 in it that he put alot of time and money in, just to do a butcher job putting it in the 84..instead of using motor mounts , he welded 2 metal stands on the frame and made engine plates to bolt to that.. just a ridget bolt in..then instead of using the rear cross member to bolt the tranny mount to , he to a piece of 1x1 tubing, cut it the with of the frame and welded a piece of angle with holes in it to bolt the mount to..it was just laying in the frame..he never welded it down.. lol..when i raised the tranny up the tubbing fell out...why do somthing just to butcher it up...god love em...lol..
