302 and c4 swap question

theres many ways to mod the heater box, a 500 watt light or heat gun will soften it and let you form it up, but you may want to practice that on some junkyard pieces....its just an air duct so cutting and fabbing it isnt too bad, but it obviously will be best sealed perfectly as possible if cut.

its a pretty easy swap with the van setup/c4. the plates on stock mounts work ok with no body lift and with a carb setup and small valve covers the heater box is not a big deal to clear.

i also prefer to modify the core support/frame rails to fit a decent radiator. buying one with a oil cooler in it may be all you need to use. with a 2wd your not really stressing the trans....with big tire 4x4 i use an gen 1 type ac condenser with a fan underneath the bed. but by-pass or encase them in the winter where it snows and is sub freezing. they over cool in sub 50 degree weather.

a big parts store cooler can work as well, but i also suggest a temp gauge for any auto tranny.

will theses fit 302,s that were built in the mid 80,s or on engines that were efi.. would you have a part number for stang motor mounts

do you have a part # for the tri-y hedders

Shelby type Tri-Y's are a generic deal. I bought mine used off ebay, there's no mfg name or numbers on mine. All the classic Stang vendors sell em, plus Summit too. They were originally made for the 65-66 Shelby Mustangs. They'll fit any 289/302 except for the GT40P headed motors, even then there was at least one company made em for these too, but as far as I know they're out of production now.

Part number for Stang mounts ? Are you going to do any of this yourself ? :icon_confused:

ohh i have been reading for days and so far what im seeing is someone saying this will work then another saying no it wont work, so with that being said im trying to narrow down to only getting info from folks that have done this swap recently and working with a model truck close to mine .. sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a game plan so i dont do a good ole boy butcher job

work and wont work on a 302 swap...

work well and wont work well is more appropriate.

They will fit the 157t bellhousing out of the box, the passenger side needs a little work to clear the starter on the 164t bellhousing. They would be my header of choice for a 2wd.

I didn't look up the PN for the mounts, I just asked for 1995 Ford Mustang GT engine mounts at the local parts store.

can any of yall look under 2.9l forums and read my post i need some advice

well guys i found a 84 ranger that a guy put a good running 302 and c4 tranny in but the body is really rough...he started restoring it and said he got layed off and couldnt finish it..so im gonna buy it and pull everything out of it from radiator to the rearend and a few other parts and put in my 85..the truck looks like mine so im hopeing that nothing changed from 84 model to 85.. i pick it up this coming saturday and i will post pics of the engine conpartment cuz im sure i'll have questions...
