I have a '94 Ranger 3.0 which is displaying rapidly variable oil pressures, and would like to replace the sending unit (switch). Where is that located? Thanks!

Rear passenger side, just below the valve cover. Its a pain to get to. I accessed it from below. But my arms are fairly long. It's tight between engine and firewall.

I took mine out and installed an elbow and braided hose. The located a new sending unit on a bracket mounted to the coil bracket up by the intake. I also got an aftermarket pressure gauge that has real numbers that mean something.

If I recall, the original gauge is really a dummy gauge. So, when the pressure gets above 5 or 6psi, the gauge goes to mid range and sits there regardless of actual pressure. When pressure falls below that, the gauge hoes to zero. If you are getting erratic readings other than that, you may have a loose wiring connection or bad gauge.
