I had always been amazed of how the oil pressure gauge was always in the same spot. I figured there was a malfunction of sort. Then I learned that the sending unit is a simple open/close switch. So, two questions:

1. Is there another sending unit that will fit and send a signal relative to the pressure? And...

2. If there is such a sending unit, will it work with the gauge on the dash?

Beat me to it lol.

So, not plug n play. 😭

I actually prefer to leave the factory system in place... then add an aftermarket gauge or gauge set. For one... it leaves the oil indicator functional. Always good to have a big red warning indicator turn on when there is trouble. Secondly... true gauges have a number related to needle position. I wouldn't swear they're totally calibrated... but IMHO... more telling then a gauge needle on a blank dial.

Addition of gauges can be accomplished a couple different ways. For my Bronco II and my Ranger... oil pressure sender is added to the engine via an oil filter sandwich adaptor. Coolant temp through a hose adaptor.

I've been down the Equus gauge road already. I'm not fond of them.

Whoops. I thought I posted a link to the summit brand, I've had good luck with the summit ones.

I'm not completely happy with the Glow Shift gauges either. They seem to report values correctly but the blacklisting never holds it preset color. I do have them wire correctly despite what the tech line at Glow Shift says. They're also all plastic and just feel cheap.

The Bronco Ii is getting a set of Jegs electrical gauges.

I've heard that about the glowshift stuff before, which is unfortunate. I had considered getting glowshift guages for the wagon since they're so affordable compared to autometer but idk.. pretty sure I'm just gonna shell out the extra cash for the fancy stuff.

Buy once... cry once.

I'm sure Jegs doesn't make their own brand of gauges... but maybe. They aren't LED... so no fancy color changes. They have all metal housings and just feel more substantial. They're made by Marshall
