found a 3.0 liter out of a '91 Ranger truck (manf date - 8/91) that I think will work replacing my '91 ranger engine (manf date - 2/91) that hydrolocked and then broke connecting rod... only difference is my truck is a manual and this engine is coming from an auto....

any problems doing a swap like this? just need my flywheel and clutch parts to attach to engine right?

Brian

Yup, swap out the flexplate for a flywheel, bolt your clutch up to it and rock out with your 5spd out.

i wouldn't bolt your clutch to it. i would buy a new one. always replace the clutch when the engine is out, and always resurface the flywheel when replacing the clutch.

well you can't just let it hang there :icon_twisted:

but yes good advice, i tend to hang on the cheap side of things so if it looks decent I'll run it. But it would be a very good idea to get a new clutch and resurface/replace the flywheel.

Kinda sounded like he didn't have those parts so I figured he was getting brand new ones anyway.

hmmm, well, already planned on replacing the clutch with a new.... actually only has about 7k miles on it? after using only for one year.... but lifetime warranties are nice... so swap for a new one... but thinking the flywheel proly be good... maybe just take some emory paper to it? doesn't look bad at all... ? Thanks for the help.. figured there wasn't a problem to it
