i am seeing alot of 2wd being built into great off road trucks. is there somtething about them that makes them better. i am just curios of why. i am not trying to bash on anyone or anyhting just curiosity thats all.

Is there something about them that makes them better?

They're generally cheaper. Only have to do things to the rear as opposed to both ends (except tires of course). You might be able to say they can get a little better mileage under certain circumstances.

but the problem with 2wd is that if you get in a spot where the rear tire comes up and starts to spin the front tire can pull you forward in a 2wd your stuck at that point.

thats why you spool it :headbang:

I welded my rear in the 2wd and it only get stuck when it was frame hung. 4wd is great. But I like the excitement of a 2wd in the mud. Gotta keep the momentum up for hills and what not. But 4wd is where its at for trails

x2 If you wheel a 2wd some kind of locking mechanism is a must. Either just a lunchbox or something fancier.

ya if it aint a daily driver I say just weld the rear. hell mine was a DD and i welded it. drove it round town every day for over 6 months HARD. My oil pump gave out and slung a rod in the engine though. But its still together!!

2wd off road (pre-running) is the only application I hear of people ever using 2wd vehicles. It'll be a little tuff to crawl or do some serious off roading with a 2wd vehicle.

Not really, I have a detriot locker in my rear and I can keep up with my buddies wrangler, you just have to know your limits, I crawl the hell outta my truck and have never been in a situation that I could get out of and I've been in some serious shit b4

the spider gears on an open dif. i could post up some videos of my 2wd goin through some stuff man.

in my opinion just get a 4 wheel drive, and if you like wheeling a 2wd just leave it in 2wd untill you have to have 4wd. does this not make sence?
