i know ive had some pics of my truck on here before but i figured its time to put them all in one build thread.
i got the ranger about 2 years ago completly stock and was supposed to stay that way. 2.3 5spd 2wd. after about 6months of owning it i did 1.5 leveling coils with a home made 1.25 coil spacer , body lift, 8.8 swap with 4.56 and lockright. did ok in the mud and sand but wasnt enough. now almost completed is a d30 with 4.56 , truetrac, waggy leafs, with some ruff stuff mounts. in between this i also swapped the faded dash and seats.

I know the feeling on the shot dashpad. Try finding one for a 1st-gen, in tan. The truck is looking good, I think.
Quick ?. Are the waggy leaves stock, or lift replacements, and what is the length, eye to eye?

Same question as Mudhound. I plan on using leafs for my SAS. What steering linkage are you using too?

yeah gen 2 dash is easy to find since they are the same till 94. i wanted to get away from the nasty red anyways so i got the best conditon dash i found which ended up being grey and painted it black. the leafs are stock wagoneer leafs but the wagoneer had 8 lug axles. not sure if there was a hd model or what. not sure on length but i can get that for you later. i know there 1" longer than the wrangler leafs i started with.

small worthless update, added some gussets to the crossmember and put some big 'ole shocks on the piece

At least your small update has pictures. These pictures will help me out when I do my SAS. Keep up the good work.

looks good. I'm doing a fullwidth 44 with leafs. What knuckle/steering set up are you using? Not many options for the D30 that arent pricey.

Dude, your gonna need some treads. It kinda looks like the liftkit cheat on Grand Theft Auto. Seriously though nice ride.

Thats the question I'm asking to myself. But I was told to use cherokee steering linkage. As for the knuckles i'm using the the stock ones. I'm not going to be lifting the truck or take it off roading, mudding..etc just want a SAS. Just need to find out what other linkages can be used or basicly what other people have used. Also what leaf springs that will give me a stockish ride height, a little lift would be nice. But the next thing after I'm done with my engine is the interior, I'm falling through the floor! The SAS will be next year if I have the money and all the knowledge of what I need to do it. But watching you is helping me out. One day this will be my mudding truck but for now it will be my DD.

for steering i have the jb raised steering bracket. when i bought the cherokee axle it came with a heavy duty tie rod that is .20 wall. i cut it in half and add 10 inches to it to make the length i need. i turned a 16" piece of matching solid stock "forgot size" down 3 inches on each end in the lathe so it would plug into the tube on each side and tig welded it. i was stumped on drag link being ranger pitman to jeep knuckle, but im thinking of using one of the jeep tie rod flip inserts in my pitman arm so i can use jeep tie rod on both ends.
heres a pic before i welded the piece in to explain better

I hope you leaned the knuckles back a little. Otherwise, youre gonna have bumpsteer out the *ss!!!

looks real good, thats the kind of sas i would like to do. are you keeping it 4x2 or going 4x4? and the brackets for the sas mount did you fab them or did you buy them, and if you did buy them ware?

i used an angle finder and set the axle up as it is in the jeep. bumpsteer because of the tie rod tube?

swapped to 4 wheel trans and t-case before i started on the sas. bought the front spring mounts and the rear shackle bushing, made the rest. i would have made it all because its more fun but my brother had the "bought" parts. i even made the shackles, if i can make it and it only saves a few bucks i will. lol
