2nd offense tickets

If the fine isn't too rough I wouldn't spend much time or effort fighting it out of spite or to prove a point. However, you may catch a break if you can explain the malfunction of the seatbelt and show receipts for repairs/parts where you have corrected the problem.

I got ticketed for a taillight being out once and when I showed that I had promptly replaced the bulb (dated receipt), the fine was waived.

$10??? The time you would spend fighting it is worth way more than that...pay it and do something productive with that time...like making $100.

The no seatbelt ticket is $10 here in Idaho, but if you go to court and explain the seatbelt mechanism isn't working properly, guess what, they'll do...they'll throw out the seatbelt ticket and issue you a fix it ticket probably.

However, can the cop prove you weren't wearing a seatbelt? Highly doubtful. Idaho is a state where cops will do everything they can to issue tickets for no reason, all the while they're breaking laws. Its just like the texting and driving thing, they'll pull you over and give you a ticket, but what are the cops doing while driving? Typing on their computer, talking on the phone, etc. Causing more of a traffic hazard themselves.

I have yet to experience this, and really hope that I don't anytime soon. I got pulled over for having stolen plates (well actually plate (singular) since I didn't have a front licence plate) Long story short the cops (all 3...) confiscated the plate, told me I should think about getting a front one so I don't get pulled over in the future, and let me be. I didn't get a ticket or anything. :dunno:

Some of the cops around my area are pretty understanding. Ussualley cooperation yes sir a valid excuse and them looking at my past criminal activity gets me off the hook. I've been pulled over by Rodriguez our sheriff while booze cruising all of my friends there were 5 of us. Were being drunk assholes and mouthing off. He just made us poor out the beer and followed us home. My buddy was wasted driving recklessly speeding he flipped off the cop and the cop knew it plus we had loaded guns. Didn't even give any one a sobriety test. Joe Rodriguez trys his best to be a good cop who sees both sides of the story and give a guy a hand. And this was a few years ago. He's still just as cool

Dang. Sounds like a pretty chill guy. Too few cops like that out there. And less in California. I was talking to a police officer here in Boise and he was dumbfounded that I hadn't bought a gun up here yet. I told him that I wasn't a resident so I couldn't purchase one. He said "bull crap, that's what cash deals are for" :icon_rofl:

So your sheriff lets you guys get away with DUI to "help a guy out" and it's cool.

One of our local police chiefs is up on charges right now because he gave people pulled over speeding in his town a choice between a ticket (with points) and a fine or making a donation that was less than the fine to the local playground fund.

WTF DUDE?

Imo>>>>

I ordered some harnesses just waiting for them to arrive :)

IMO, its the principle of the ticket, and here in TN if you get 3 tickets within 2 yrs, they suspend your license for a year no matter what the tickets are for.

ALSO: FFT, you can get seat belt extenders FREE from your Ford Dealership and that will eliminate the faulty buckle hassle.

Don't venture to Emmett. You'll run into them.

Last time I got pulled over the cop tried telling me I was doing 37 in a 25. I know my speedometer was off by 3mph at the time but didn't know it was miraculously off by 12mph overnight. Told the cop I've passed several cops in other towns including ISP several times driving the same way and never have been bothered. Saw the same cop a few days later so I slowed down and was doing about 15mph in front of him, I got into work and he says you were sure driving slow, I said well you pulled me over for doing 37 on this same road the other day, which means my speedometer is off about 12mph, so according to you the other day I needed to drive slower, so now you are telling me I'm going to slow, not to mention following me around. He's like well we had a call come in about a suspicious vehicle the other day, I said, oh what did the vehicle look like because I'm here at work all the time and can easily see traffic going by so I could watch for it, he says oh, it was a yellow Volkswagen Jetta, well how the hell does a 1984 Ford Bronco 2 fall into a Volkswagen category? He's like well we were just stopping all yellow vehicles. I say why because you have no clue what a yellow Volkswagen Jetta looks like.

Cops in Emmett are known to harass people, and pull people over and have absolutely no damn clue why they pulled you over...:icon_confused:

Small towns are where whack-job cops get weeded out. And a lot of LE folks are people who want to carry a gun and push people around and tell them what to do...remember those a-holes from grade school? Always call them "Sir" cause it busts their balls, and have your passenger start recording with the smart phone whenever possible.
