289 swap

hahaha, yea only if I could get the damned thing down the stairs after i was finished with it

rent a couple of jarheads, pay them $20 a piece to msucle it down the stairs, and if they cant do it call them pussies, it never fails :)

haha, yea idk

this whole v-8 in the ranger thing has been floatin around in my mind for a while.... i'm just afraid to figure out how much more its gonna cost besides the price of the engine n stuff.

u can build a healthy 350hp small block for around 1500, and then u can get a bulletproof trans built for a similar cost, if u have a place to build the engine i would really do that

well i figure i junk yard assembly would be the best thing for me...

what would be the best year for a truck motor to get?

reason for me asking is ive found this website, www.usedpartscentral.com
and they ask for a year and model and they'll give me the location of the nearest junkyard with my part in it.

Best 302 besides the 96-2001 Explorer/Mountaineers 5.0 were the 94-97 E & F series 5.0's. Same cam the Explorer motor's got, just has E7TE heads instead of the GT40's. The Explorer front dress is shorter, making it easier to fit a radiator. The J'Yards have caught onto the desireability of these motors though and usually charge accordingly. The E or F series motors should sell for less. Other candidates with the short front dress are the 94-95 Stang and the 88-up T-Bird/Cougar 5.0.

I just tried that site, what a pain. Try www.car-part.com . It's much faster and easier. You also don't have to give out your personal information.

holy shit....you aint kidding dude....I think they may be desperate for a sale or something??

i'd sent in a request earlier today and i got like 12 new emails just from usedcarcentral

well that 2nd site really helps out alot, thanks

ahhhh geez...now i just have to convince my dad to give me his T5 tranny xD

it really kills me...lol it's completely rebuilt and just sittin in our shed waiting on my dad to work on our ranchero GT (which i dont think is going to happen soon)

You're welcome. I love that site. Found a flairside box for my Ranger for $200 and an 8.8 with 4.10/TL for $265 shipped to my door.

hmm well im not lucky enough to have a front door...lol

i'll just have to go down to the brigade mailroom. idk how theyd get it in there though. lol

i'd be laughing at a group of army folks trying to muscle a 302 and a tranny in the mailroom. :taunt:

That dipstick won't work with the dual sump oilpan you have to use with a RBV.

bet you could dummy up the dipstick, or block off hole. I once body filled the SVO script on some aluminum heads and painted them to match the engine so the motor looked stock! Be creative!
