My credo
Give 'yer balls a tug. Fight me.
...is a gutless fuel-drinking dog.

Any (serious) suggestions? This newer non-Mopar sh*t is not my forté. Don't know if there's low-hanging fruit like chips that work, programmer/tuner, etc.

Feel free to bust my b*lls now.

Boost?

What does it have for gearing?

My brother had a judge (like the kind with a hammer) come into the dealer for an oil change a couple years ago. Over idle converstation he mentioned he blew a tire on his fifth wheel camper and didn't know until someone flagged him down. The tire flogged the camper and did like $12k in damage, had insulation coming out and everything. 6.2 didn't care.

Really common farm truck powerplant, probably third behind a Powerstroke and a Cummins.

I bet you got a 3.73 rear.

Plus those 6.2s aint like the ol big inch thumpers, they gotta sing to work.

Put some 4.30s in it.

Is that the gas engine or diesel? Our f450 at work has a 6.something diesel and it's a beast. I've towed almost 20k with it and it didnt care at all.

Correct, 6.2 gas. Thought about changing gears in the rear end (correct, has the 3.73), but my fuel economy is already at 9-13 mpg. Ugh.

Ran forscan on it, nothing going wrong that I could see.

Maybe rusty was right.and I was expecting torque. But this is my second one (previous was a 2012) and has nowhere near the low end torque my last one had.

Ugh.

Even with a 4.30 with that 6 speed i doubt youll lose any mpg.

Your last one pry had a 4.10.

One of the 6.2s at work is getting 3.8mpg according to the dashboard... Its does a lot of idling.

That's pretty good.
9-13 is pretty standard for any gasser fullsize 3/4 ton. Everyone ive had besides my 78 F350 got between 9-13. No matter what.

My 460 gets around 12-13.

Damn.

Not too sure if I'm keeping it now. It's a 2011, has a transmission issue (slams into gears when it shifts), is gutless, and generally is p*ssing me off. Thing only has 45k miles on it. It should not have this many issues.

Primary reason I'm contemplating getting rid of it is I'm being told by the DOT guy that I need to have electronic logs on it because it's above 10,001 gvw and registered in the company's name. Which makes it utterly useless to me if he is correct. I work 16-72 hours in the field at a time. Having a vehicle subject to e logs means I would need a ride home. Not happening.

Wtf are electronic logs?

DOT is full of shit.

There are plenty of exemptions for oil field use and personal convayence, as well as the 100 air mile rule. The DOT dont even know the laws.

Wtf are electronic logs?

Basically a time tracking device connected to the ECM to monitor how many hours truckers and other commercial drivers are driving, enforcing compliance with bullshit hours of service laws all in the name of "safety"

Yes and not so yes. PA is rough. One of the reasons I rent a house is to keep from running a log on the rig moves. The 100 mile thing. I work waaàaaay too many hours to keep a log.

Pj.....
Your trans issue is likely part of the reason the truck is nutless. It's pulling all your tq in protection mode. The gear slamming is indicative of fixed pressure and it pulling timing and fuel

Ok. This sounds like the best advice I've gotten so far on this trans. Is there anything I can do to resolve it?
