Hi Everyone, I have 2007 Ranger 4.0 auto that's giving me issues starting when cold. At first I thought it was because it was so cold out the past week (-20 celcius) but then when it warmed up the issue persisted. Then I thought , well maybe I got some bad gas at the station. Filled up a tank of super at another station and the same issue.
Battery's a couple years old, but cranks the engine over with no issues and voltage is good. Once the truck starts (usually after a 2 trys turning it over) , it runs perfect. No stumbling, no rough idle. Runs perfectly normal.
I was thinking maybe the fuel pump could be going, but I would have thought it would bog while running or something along those lines.
Any input here? Possible injector leak bleeding pressure when the truck is parked?
I haven't tested the fuel pressure when parked yet.
Thanks! A bit at a loss here, as the truck runs great and only has about 180000km.

Cycle key on and off 3 times then try to start

That will give you about 30psi fuel pressure if it was 0psi
2007 runs with 55-65psi, after engine starts
Needs about 20psi to start

Fuel pump only runs for 2 seconds each time key is turned on, it doesn't run again until engine starts, RPMs above 400
2 seconds = about 10psi

If the fuel pressure regulator OR the fuel pump check valve is leaking then pressure is lost when key is off
Both of these are in the gas tank, part of the same assemble
