I have a slight vibe more noticable at 30-40mph on highway and @ 1500 rpm. Vibe doesn't reduce if I put it neutral from Drive on the highway and slow down makes no difference. I went under and checked the one piece driveshaft.(the one that has a splined rear slider and seal, and differential flange. No center bearing.) I can find no weights at all on the tube. All there is are three raised dimples about 3/4" apart and 1/16" high and arranged in a triangle. This is at the differential end of the tube itself approx 2" up from the weld of the tube and UV joint.

Are these whats's left of spot welding of the balance button? Tube is steel and rusted somewhat. I see no bare rectangular areas where a weight was attached either. I'm thinking of eventually doing the pipe clamp balancing routine to see if that works.

Thanks for the help.

double check your U Joints before doing the balancing. if nothing has changed, I would say that is your culprit.

Thanks guys. Well, I decided to put the truck in my garage and take another look. I raised it on rear jack stands and took the two Wildpeak MS off, which have all the balancing weights on. I put the bolts back on the drums. These tires are awesome.

I put it in drive and spun it up to 60 mph and then the RPM to 1800 no drive train noise. I did some gas pedal stomps and that passed the noise test. With my finger on the steering wheel I could only feel the very slight vibe of the running engine. The problem vibe was originally noticeable on my driver seat pad while cruising and at steady speed. ....No vibes this time.

So that clinches it for me. The rears get new balancing, and if the problem stays, .....tough. It's an old work truck and I don't do cowboying or climbing anyway, so I should be OK for some time before I part it out.

Thanks for the heads up. I checked the U joints and they are the no zirt first. They were good. I didn't expect to find a problem with them at 58K miles.

Thanks all guys!

Lawn mower Smart car, mmmmm.!!! . Google "lifted Smart Car" and have a Sunday laugh.
