Friend owns the abovr said rig always has problems getting it in and out of 4x4. Did some searching but couldnt find out if its a borg warner case. Any one know if the shiftster will work on it?

Also any one know what gears they have? His is a 4.0 v6 6 speed sr5 trd with the e-locker. He put 35s on it and it still goes pretty good. I read some where it was iether 3.73 or 3.92. I keep forgetting to check his axle and door tag.

Just look at the tag on the housings. The tag or 'plate' tells what gear and size housing it is. Every housing I have ever had on any of my trucks had a tag on it. The plate on the door jam area should also give specs as well. If somebody has removed the tag on the housing you still should find info on the door jam. My earlier Toyota trucks had the info on the housing and all my Rangers and Bronco II's and early Broncos had the info on the housings.

Most likely your friends' tacoma has either 3.73's, or it may have 4.10's since its a TRD it may have the 4.10's as most of the TRD models had 4.10 axle ratios. Which is why it would handle the 35's so well.

As for the T-case issue, does it have an issue going in and out of 4WD all the time, or just occasionally? When shifting in and out of 4WD High Range you need to just be coasting not under acceleration then shift then one the shift completes then you can resume acceleration. Going into 4WD Low Range requires you to fully engage 4WD high range while stopped and transmission in neutral, clutch pushed in then once 4WD high range is engaged then you can shift into 4Low range.

As far as the transfer case model I couldn't find anything, so I'm not sure what they have, its not a Borg Warner its either a New Venture or New Process T-Case.
