I blew the head gaskets on my truck at 94k miles. Always said i'd have a swap done before it hit 100k. so i'm sarting th swap this week. and i'll have pics of the build up until its done. check back this week for pics

Now this sounds like a fun swap! Don't know of very many with that new of a swap, let alone a 5.8. Guess someone has to be first!
Dave

i'm 2wd right now. Ya thats why I want to do the swap. I've never seen a newer body style with a v8 around here. It's gonna be pretty easy actually. I already have a 3 inch body lift so I wont have clearance issues with the fire wall an I took the evap. case out a while ago so that wont be a problem either

well i've got the motor and trans. out of the truck now. gotta pressure wash the engine bay to get all the mud off and hopefully within the next week or 2 the 5.8 will be sitting on mounts. I'll try to post pics soon

upload your pictures to a host like photobucket, its free, and then use the IMG code that is supplied on the photobucket website and paste it here

What are you going to use for headers? I know there are not many options for the pre-98's using the 351.

thanks for the pic help. I'm going to be fabbing my own headers once the engine is in most likely. I shouldn't have any other clearance issues than that. I've already eliminated the Evap case and the truck has a 3" P.A. body lift.

this is just a pic of it sitting on my new 15/38.5/15 military DOT's and 15x12 mickey thompson calssic wheels

I'll have more pics tomorrow

HAHAHAHA! I read something tonight in the tech forums. all this 351 clearance issuse with the oil pan and steering linkage all goes for older rangers, pre98. mine is 03 and i've been measuring all day and night! damn thing is gonna go right in! only thing i'm going to have issues with is exhaust manifolds. wooo! relief........ anyways pics coming soon as possible.

Just dropped off the block at the machine shop this morning for a jet wash and to have the new cam bearings installed!

The motor mounts are made from 10mm carbon steel flat plate.

Like I said.......plenty of clearance!

Wow that looks like a ton of room!
What are you using for a transmission? Did you mock it up without one?
