Hello,
I have a B300, the temperature gaguge stays in the middle after turning off the engine, and will return to cold when the engine is restarted the next day. My question is is it normal to stay in the mid position until the truck is started again. I noticed all other gauges return to zero then back up except fuel gauge. The reason I ask is because we had a block heater blow out and dropped all the rad fluid, now we repaired it and need to know normal temp gauge operation.

Thank you.

Unplug the sensor on the motor and see what the gauge does. It will give you an idea if it's working or not.

Basically all i would like, is for someone that has a ford ranger or mazda b series truck to test it real quick. After the engine has heated up after driving, immediately after turning off where does your needle stay?

Thanks for your reply.

My 2000 B3000's temp gauge always goes down slowly after its shut off. It should go down when the vehicle is shut off. when i start mine up and its been sitting for 10 minutes ( and its still warm ) it will quickly climb up to where it was right after i start it up. I don't know much about the wiring aspect of a temp gauge but maybe your temp gauge needs to be replaced, maybe someone else can help you better with that.

Thats the reply i was looking for, thank you very much manitoba.

If i were you i would either get it looked at because you had rad problems and they might not have hooked it up correctly, i might be wrong but it could just be a loose connection somewhere.
If you want an accurate gauge go buy one of those aftermarket gauges and hook that up to your temp. it will be a lot more accurate then the factory gauge.
