I've been trying to change the halogen headlight bulb on my 01 Ranger, but not having any luck. The manual says to just rotate the retaining ring and pull the bulb assembly out. However, it was close to impossible to get the ring loosened, but i managed to get my hand in the hole behind the headlight in the hood anyways. Now the ring is wedged and there is a plate that seems to keep it from coming out. i thought that bracket was part of the headlight adjuster and I can't tell how it comes off, even though the chilton's never mentions it. Going to Baja tomorrow and not going to have time for a shop(or money). Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Yeah there is the big grippy sleeve that you twist and it should come loose but it won't come out for whtever reason then you firmly grip the bulband plug and pull out while wiggling it up and down a little. if thats not all your truck might have the easy light removal tabs.
