I have a used 2001 Ford Ranger XLT with a 15100 miles on it, but when i go over 65mph on the highway it makes aloud humming, and going past 75 it gets even louder. I have no clue what it is or whats causing it. I also hear a grinding/ whoosh type type of noise from the front, i replaced the brake pads and it still makes the noise, my pops friend said it sounds like the wheel bearings. Also when in four wheel drive, when turning , it barely wants to move is there anything i can do to fix the front axles like grease them or something? thanks

Almost forgot but my check engine light is on and when i had a friend use the code reader on it he said it told him EGR flow insufficient ?

Are you in 4wd when doindg 65 mph+? If so, there's your problem and you should not be doing that. When you're in 4wd, it supposed to be hard to turn. That's why you're not supposed to use 4wd on dry pavement. You're gonna end up breaking parts.

The egr issue has been discussed many times....search for it, it involves fairly simple tests, and if it's the sensor's fault consider buying a motorcraft sensor instead of the cheapest you can find.

No it's in two wheel drive and it still humms, someone said it had something to do with the driveshaft, and I only use 4wd when its raining or snowing out otherwise the rear wheels slip

It was the wheel bearing for the front passenger tire, and now it works perfectly now. Oh and don't comment if you THINK you know what your talking about, obviously it shows you had no clue as to what it was.

Wow, you had to come back a year later just to say that? You sure put me in my place. Even thoough it wasn't the problem, it doesn't make what I said untrue. Putting you on ignore list...
