I recently purchases a 2001 Ford Ranger Edge. The truck appears to be in very good condition (very clean inside and out, possibly repainted). I park the truck on a slight incline with the nose up hill. When it rains I get water on the front passenger side floor. With a recent freeze, I noticed the vinyl floor matting was frozen. Water is obviously getting up under the vinyl flooring. Where can this be coming from and how can I diagnose and correct the problem? Thank you in advance.

Probably a leak around the windshield somewhere. I'd try pouring water on it and see if it drips in anywhere. If it's been repainted due to damage, maybe the cab got tweaked a little.

check that the heater drain is not plugged, very common problem.

Another common place is the third brake light housing on the back of the cab. It isn't likely in this case, unless it is leaking in and running forward parked downhill.

Have someone run a waterhose all over the truck while you watch from inside- about the only way you will find it.

Ranger floor leak

I have the 2001 Ranger and thought I left the passenger window cracked open on a rainy day. The second time it rained, I made sure everything was shut, closed and locked. The passenger floor was wet again! It just rained again so I waited till it the rain came down pour'n and jumped in my truck. So, I looked and ran my hand and fingers all along the door seal, looked under the glove box and dash to see if there was any drops coming in. Finally, I ran my hand on the carpet and sure enough, I detected some wetness near the corner of the passenger door towards the front. Again, I didn't see any water trails coming in. So I pulled the carpet up from that corner and saw more wetness on the metal floor. I looked on the adjoining walls, front and sides but didn't see a thing. I wiped the floor dry and cranked up the heater. It started raining so I stared at the floor for a good five minutes and THERE IT WAS. The water was leaking from the bottom passenger floor thru a the body seem where two pieces meet (the floor and the right inner side wall) Don't know if this is a welded seem or what. Anyway, sounds to me this should be a recall type of thing. Just registered here and I don't have image privileges. I could just heat it up and put some of that roof stuff on it something. Any takers???

i think this is a problem with other rangers also, mine leaks, same year same spot but i can not find it , now i will check the seams. maybe they should recall them. got to shampoo carpets too many time cause the water smell.

I've got the problem on my '03'. Got inside one day when it was pouring and I could hear water dripping 2/3's of the way back on the passenger door, soaking the floor. Did tape the window seal up and that seemed to be where it was coming from. Now that it's warmer, got to get it fixed. Duck tape just didn't look right on it.

WINDSHIELD. if you have full coverage have it "get broken" and replace it...

X3

I was told by my agent (State Farm) that if the leak poses a possible safety issue it is still covered, even if it's not broken. My windshield leaked and made a streak, so they covered it with no cracks in it. He did break it taking it out though, LOL.

Now for a little thread jacking :threadjacked:

Mine leaks from the rear somewhere. I've replaced the 3rd brake light, but it has gotten wet since so I suspect it's the window seal. However, it has rained/snowed A LOT here in Salt Lake the past 3 or 4 weeks, and it hasn't been wet once in this time frame. Stupid thing.
