I don't like the way most shells are wired with an exposed wire coming up the right front corner of the bed. Too easy to damage and cause trouble. I'm looking for a diagram of the bed harness. I don't know yet which side the wiring follows: left side or right side? Also, I don't know if there is a 12v wire near the trailer hitch? I'm thinking of running wires up through the gap around the tail-lights and into the camper shell. I want to install a camera for backing up and that third brake light on top. I'm also installing lamps inside so I can see and an inverter incase I need to turn something on.
I suppose I can lay in the gravel and probe it all out, but it would be handier to get some tips from others who have been there before.

wiring runs along drivers side (left) frame rail, will need to run a 12V+ wire, none exists to my knowledge (on any ranger Ive had) I would run a switched hot (12V+) for the camera vs tapping a backup light for 12V+ power feed, that way if your using camera to help line up for trailer hitching it will stay on weather you are in reverse or not. I wish I had done that with the escape.

Hey, great idea! I hadn't thought of using the camera for finding the trailer. Where's my brain? Is there a fuse spot in the fuse tray for running extra power to places? My trailer has electric brakes, so if there is no 12v available at my hitch, then I'm going to need to supply it. Why is it when you go to do one thing it always ends up with two or more?
