I recently had a used motor swapped in my 00' ranger after overheating and ruining my old one with 139k. This is actually the 4th motor since all the other ones swapped in were bad and luckily i bought the warantee from the shop who did it so it was all covered. This one runs good and the powers all there. It seems a little noisier than I'd like it to be(engine noise not exhaust). It sounds more like piston slap from what other people tell me, not like valve tick. I'm using 5w30 non synthetic penzoil right now. I'm just wondering if another oil would be better, or if lucas oil stabilizer would help? I have read many many negative reviews of lucas oil additive but I think most are just repeating what they've read of bobistheoilguy saying it foams up and shit. I do live in IL where temps get to near 0 every week this time of year. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks!
