My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
If I’m blowing a 10a fuse every 4th time I use the switch on a circuit (18g wire, rated for 13a-15a) that’s only drawing 1.43ma… and removing the switch fixes the problem then my problem is this Jegs GM style floor mount highbeam switch right?

next question. How do I use the stock headlight and highbeam switch in the column to energize my relays when it’s a circuit designed for a canbus? If I’m only drawing 1.43ma on the highbeam and 1.73ma on the lowbeam then I should be able to tap that switch right?

High beam bulbs are rated as 55watts, times 2, so 110watts
At 12vDC that is 9.1amps

Not sure how you are wiring the floor switch but change to a 15amp fuse if high beam 12v is suppose to pass thru it

CANBus is communication only just 1's and 0's it doesn't supply power to anything
It's module to module communication
The module will have the relays or transistors that activate power to a device based on communications from another module

@Ozwynn ,
If I were experiencing this issue, I would rewire my headlights directly to the battery via relays which are controlled by the stock light switches.

The switches will then actually only feel mA loads.

What vehicle are you asking about?

It’s been 30 years since I took basic electronic principles but that’s what I did. Wired the headlights via relays directly to the battery. I have a toggle switch for the low beam relay and a floor switch for the highbeam relay. Eventually I want it to work off the factory switch.

@Ozwynn ,
Did this rewire job let your high and low beam lights work?

To use the stock switch(es), couldn't you just power the relays from one of the original headlight sockets?

So... what vehicle are you dealing with? That will be the only way anyone could even possibly give you any reasonable guess as to how to proceed.

Why not include information on what the original fault was and why you decided to completely rig the headlight system and then ask how to fix your mistakes and prevent it from blowing fuses.

This is a classic case of garbage in... garbage out.

You give us garbage info... you should expect garbage answers.
